elisabeth practicing telemark turns

We had a fine day skiing at Stavtjørn yesterday. Elisabeth spent some time practicing her Telemark turns.

Tara and Saule spent most of their time in the woods.

new windows for 1a

"Jens the builder" has replaced several of the old windows in number "1 A". Compare the 'before' and 'after' shots.

Can't wait for him to get started on number "1 B".

the surf blog

As previously mentioned, I am now a teacher in the art of surfing as well as various other things. One of the challenges issued to me by my former teacher, who is now my colleague, was to make a blog for the surf class. I did so quite early, but I haven't been shouting too much about it due to its lack of content - until now, that is! Unfortunately, for all those who don't understand Norwegian, the blog contains only posts in our native language. But fear not. For there are a lot of interesting photos (look for the word "bilder") and videos for you too look at, to catch something of a glimpse of what exactly it is we do here.

Peace out, and all that.

Take a look at the blog.

dare to be diff-erent

Elisabeth has a new hobby - swimming in the sea at least once a week. She was inspired by her friend Siri who has formed a group in Holmestrand on the Oslo fjord. Their group is called "Damer i Fri Flyt" (DIFF for short) which translates literally to "Women Floating Free" (as opposed to "Free Women Floating").

So in August Elisabeth formed the Rogaland Chapter of DIFF. To become a member you have to pass a few tests:
1. Be a woman.
2. Swim at least three strokes in the cold sea with a witness.
They have some other rules:
1. No swiming alone after the 1st September.
2. No swimming if you have a fever.
3. No hats (see below) to be worn from May until the end of August.
Members that show dedication by attending at least three or four sessions get presented with an ugly woolly crocheted hat; made with no pattern and lots of inspiration and enthusiasm.

After their swim they enjoy an old fashioned chin-wag over a cup of hot cocoa from their DIFF cups.
